What is merging accounts in Skype for Windows?

Your Microsoft account gives you access to applications and services like Messenger, Hotmail, Xbox, SkyDrive and Windows Phone. If you have a Windows Live ID, you already have a Microsoft account. If you don’t, it is easy to  get one.
